How to check in players and teams for NorCal Premier matches. Under development - last updated August 3, 2026
Background
Starting with the Fall 2026 season, NorCal Premier has introduced a new method to check in teams and players. All referees working NorCal Premier matches are expected to follow the new guidelines.

Lots of changes for Fall 2026
- IFAB (International Football Association Board) has changed some of the LoTG. These changes went into effect on July 1, 2026. Referees are expected to enforce the new LoTG. This will cause confusion as referees enforce the new laws.
- USSF changed the age groups for youth teams from the calendar year to a scholastic year. This will cause confusion among participants as to what players are age available for what teams. Most teams will have been reformed. There will be a fair amount of movement of players between teams and clubs. Seeding of teams may be more difficult so as referees we may see more lop sided games with teams of mis-matched skill levels.
- NorCal Premier introduced App based on-line player checkins and match cards. This will cause confusion as it is a new process.

Player Check In Procedure - Referee Choice
- CHOICE A. Referee has the NorCal App
- The referee downloads the NorCal App to a referee owned Smart Phone (As of August 3, 2026 APP is not yet available)
- Referee registers their name and email address with the NorCal App.
- Referee can use the same email address and password that the referee uses with GotSport
- Manager shows Referee a Match specific QR code
- Referee scans the code which opens the App
- Referee checks in each player
- CHOICE B. Referee does not have the NorCal App
- Manager shows Referee a Match specific QR code. Referee scans with a referee owned Smart Phone
- Scanned code opens a website
- Referee provides their name and email address
- No verification required
- No requirement that the referee use their entire name. Can use intitials.
- No requirement that the referee use their own email address
- Minor referees can use a parent
- Can use a generic email like referee@pensra.org
- Referee checks in each player
- App will send referee an email with a link to match details. Important if there is a red card send off
- CHOICE C. Referee does not have / does not want to use a referee owned smart phone
- Manager reviews player check-in data on the smart phone of the coach or manager
- NOT CLEAR how this is done
Referee Wallet Match Card
- Referee records
- Goals
- Misconduct (Yellow Cards and Red Cards)
- Other
- Agreement to use a referee that is a relative of a match participant
- Name of Coaches present that are not in the App
- Referee presents their referee wallet match card to both the home and away team for post match photograph
Red Card / Send Off reports
- Are now done thrrough the App
- If the referee has the App, will be in their App feed
- If the referee does not have the App, will be done via a link sent to the email address entered
